WEGL celebrating 50th birthday on Saturday

On Saturday, Auburn University’s beloved radio station, WEGL, will turn 50.

The student-run station first hit the airwaves on April 24, 1971, and it has been an important voice of students ever since. The Auburn Alumni Association’s Todd Deery looked back at WEGL’s impressive run in the Spring 2021 cover story of Auburn Magazine, chronicling the station’s beginnings, highlights and evolution through the years.
