The Office of Inclusion and Diversity, or OID, will host Ami Gandhi, senior counsel for the Chicago Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights, as the first of two keynote speakers for Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
Gandhi will join OID tomorrow, April 14, on Zoom at 5 p.m. for a conversation about her work to reduce barriers to voting and improve civic participation, especially in communities of color and low-income communities. Her experience includes leading state-wide voter protection for the 2016 and 2018 elections, partnering with community members in the criminal legal system to expand voter access, advocating for communities of color during Illinois redistricting and advising local election boards as they implemented the first Hindi ballots in the country.
