The fall 2020 semester has created new obstacles both professionally and personally for Auburn faculty, including navigating new modes of teaching, learning to use new technology and finding safe ways to interact with colleagues and students. To that end, the Biggio Center is offering opportunities that focus on the professional and personal well-being of Auburn faculty working through these challenging times.

The Be Well Weekly workshop series offers weekly workshops the entire month of October and early November. Workshop topics include identifying and overcoming student-identified challenges, teaching in survival mode, balancing teaching and parenting, setting effective boundaries/work-life balance and an update from Dr. Fred Kam, director of the Auburn University Medical Clinic, on the state of COVID-19 both on campus and nationally. The first workshop titled “What do students think about the fall 2020 semester? How can we overcome Auburn student identified challenges?” is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 3 p.m.

Faculty delivering instruction in new modes can participate in a special feedback service for fall 2020. A Biggio Center facilitator will lead a feedback session with your students to provide you with timely, actionable and respectful feedback that will enable you to feel confident in your teaching. This mid-semester feedback session will allow you to make quick, necessary changes to your course to enhance learning for all. This service is available through Nov. 1.

A special Pandemic Pedagogy faculty learning community provides an additional layer of support for faculty teaching face-to-face, hybrid and/or HyFlex courses during the fall 2020 semester. Given the challenges of incorporating many teaching strategies in a socially distanced classroom, this community provides a sounding board for ideas and teaching strategies to incorporate in the classroom now as well as a place to troubleshoot frustrating and/or difficult aspects of teaching during a pandemic. This community meets via Zoom on Thursdays from 2-3 p.m. during fall 2020.
