Auburn University Theatre is presenting “Blithe Spirit,” a hauntingly funny tale just in time for Halloween. “Blithe Spirit” will be the first digital performance in the 2020-21 season “Staging Change, Changing Stages,” and is available for viewing Oct. 12-18.

Join Charles Condomine, a novelist in search of inspiration for his latest book, as he invites a local eccentric medium, Madame Arcati, to perform a séance with himself, his wife and their friends, the Bradmans. Unknown supernatural manifestations occur and hilarious hijinks soon follow. Come experience Noël Coward’s smash comedy hit that has been revived on stages from Broadway to the West End for decades.

“Blithe Spirit” is presented through AU Theatre @ Home – a way to watch the digital performances produced by the Department of Theatre outside of the physical space of the Telfair B. Peet theatre. Once you reserve your ticket for production, further instructions will be emailed regarding access for viewing the performance. Each show offering will run for a full week and you can watch it wherever, whenever, and as many times as you like for seven days. Auburn Theatre is venturing to places it’s never been before, your home.

The artistic team for “Blithe Spirit” includes direction by Scott Phillips, costume design by Tracy Oleinick, scenic and lighting design by Fereshteh Rostampour, wig design by Jennifer Salter and sound design by Auburn University student, Matthew Smith. The cast includes Emma Fox, Addison Peacock, Zac Moss, Will Glisson, Mary Keyton, Ebony Strong, Brantley Waller and Charlcie Hathorn.

Tickets for the production of “Blithe Spirit” are available now.

Navigate to the Department of Theatre’s ticketing page to reserve your virtual ticket.

Due to the nature of this production season, the ticketing structure has changed. There is only a general admission price for all the fall productions. This decision reflects a similar price for general admission to an in-person performance, takes into account that the productions would be viewed from an individual's residence and provides support for the work of our students.
