Flores, special ed faculty members form Equity Working Group to prepare students

Professor Margaret Flores, coordinator of the Special Education program in the College of Education’s Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation and Counseling, teamed with colleagues to form the Equity Working Group to develop meaningful conversations through the summer by reading a common book.

The group chose “So You Want to Talk About Race” by Ijeoma Oluo because “it is conversational, cuts across many topics, is inexpensive and we have copies in the Learning Resource Center,” according to Flores. The group plans to read a different book every semester that explores a new theme or type of inequality.
