Effective Aug. 19, Auburn requires everyone on campus—in all indoor and outdoor spaces—to wear a face covering. This is a preventative measure intended to protect the campus community. Read the complete policy.

After observing recent events at institutions across the country, it was clear Auburn must go above and beyond policies already in place to reach our goal of an uninterrupted fall semester. Since students’ return, it has been widely observed that there is a campus-wide disregard for basic safety protocols, including the wearing of face coverings and maintaining of appropriate physical distancing, all of which have been encouraged and mandated at the state and local levels since the onset of the pandemic.

Physical distancing remains essential, and the new, more robust face covering mandate was designed to support measures already in place across the university, including but not limited to reduced classroom capacities, encouraging remote work when possible, enhanced cleaning measures and numerous others.
