The College of Liberal Arts has announced that Kelly Ard has been named the director of development, effective Aug. 10. Ard joined Auburn University in July 2015 in the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations where she worked with institutional leaders, faculty and administrators to identify new partnerships and establish a seamless experience for companies to engage with Auburn.

“Kelly is a collaborative and strategic leader. With her corporate fundraising background, she brings a new perspective and will be a valuable partner for our college as we seek to grow our financial support,” said Joseph Aistrup, dean of the College of Liberal Arts.

Prior to joining Auburn University, Ard worked as a legal firm administrator and paralegal. In 2013, she established her own client base and assisted numerous companies and local businesses with community outreach and fundraising initiatives.

“It is an honor to serve the College of Liberal Arts in this role and join such an experienced team. I am excited to support the great work of the college, its faculty and students," said Ard.

In addition to her development experience at Auburn, Ard has taught the paralegal certification course in the Office of Professional and Continuing Education. She received a bachelor’s degree in history from James Madison University, with a minor in Italian language and studies. Her husband, Dalton, is a small business owner in the Auburn area and they have a 5-year-old son, Aplin. Ard is also active in the community, previously serving on the board of the Lee County Humane Society.
