Auburn University Libraries is offering creative application workshops in the Summer II term through its Media and Digital Resource Lab and Innovation and Research Commons.

These workshops will help users learn how to use the creative applications of Adobe Creative Cloud, which the university offers to students for free.

The workshops will be open to all Auburn students, faculty and staff. The topics include “Getting Started with Adobe Creative Cloud,” “Poster Design,” “Adobe Photoshop for Beginners,” “Digital Video: Adobe Premiere Rush” and more. Participants will learn how to use creative apps to enhance classroom assignments, present research and design and publish online content.

Digital Design: Getting Started with Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Spark

Through this workshop, participants will learn about Adobe Creative Cloud and will begin creating content in Adobe Spark. They will be encouraged to explore Adobe Spark, an app that allows everyone to create beautiful web stories, slideshows and video. Adobe’s free resources include powerful apps such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Premiere Pro. Participants should use their own laptops to join in and additional mobile devices are recommended.

This workshop will take place on July 6 from 3-4 p.m.

Poster Design

Need to design a poster for a class assignment, research presentation or a conference presentation? Begin with the drag and drop features of PowerPoint to design and print or submit a poster. This workshop is full of basic design tips needed to achieve these goals. Explore ways to get started with more advanced poster design using Adobe InDesign and interactive apps.

This workshop will take place on July 7 from 3-4 p.m.

Adobe Acrobat DC: Getting Started with PDF’s

Participants will learn the basics of Adobe Acrobat DC and create, combine and edit PDFs during this workshop. They will also be taught how to properly organize pages, combine files of various types and export files from PDF into other file types. Adobe ID and use of participant’s own laptop with Acrobat installed will be required and additional mobile devices are recommended.

This workshop will take place on July 8 from 3-4 p.m.

Digital Video: Adobe Premiere Rush

Need a quick way to create slick video on the fly? In this workshop, participants will explore Adobe Premiere Rush for video creation and editing. Adobe’s free resources will empower participants to use more powerful video apps such as Premiere Pro. Adobe ID and use of participant’s own laptop with Rush installed is required and additional mobile devices are recommended.

This workshop will take place on July 9 from 3-4 p.m.

Creating Graphics: Adobe Photoshop for Beginners

Participants will learn the basics of Photoshop and develop photo editing skills to enhance their class assignments and projects, including combining graphics with layered text and images for collages, adjusting photo colors and adding effects. Adobe ID and use of participant’s own laptop with Photoshop installed is required.

This workshop will take place on July 13 from 3-4 p.m.

Digital Drawing: Adobe Illustrator for Beginners

Participants will learn the basics of Adobe Illustrator and develop digital drawing skills to enhance class assignments and projects, including layering shapes, drawing lines, using colors effectively and creating vector images. Adobe ID and use of participant’s own laptop with Illustrator installed is required and additional mobile devices are recommended.

This workshop will take place on July 14 from 3-4 p.m.

Designing Documents: Adobe InDesign for Beginners

Participants will learn the basics of InDesign, including how to create brochures, flyers and custom documents and how to place images and add text. Adobe ID and use of participant’s own laptop with InDesign installed is required and additional mobile devices are recommended.

This workshop will take place on July 15 from 3-4 p.m.
