The first line of the Auburn Creed, ‘I believe that this is a practical world and that I can count only on what I earn. Therefore, I believe in work. Hard work,’ resonates strongly with Molly Hulsey.

“I emphasize this part to my students because I know that the higher education journey is no easy task,” Hulsey said. “Students must put an enormous amount of effort that requires more time and energy ever put forth in order to obtain a degree. It is my privilege to help them achieve that goal and I take my job very seriously.”

Hulsey, a native of Birmingham, has worked as a student advisor for the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business since 2011. During that time, she has worked hard to ensure that her first-floor office in Lowder Hall is a welcoming, encouraging, fun, supportive and safe environment for her students.

For her dedication to student success, Hulsey earned the National Association for Academic Advisors, or NACADA, Outstanding Advisor Award-Primary Role in the organization’s Global Awards Program – it’s highest level. NACADA, a global community for advising that provides professional development, networking and leadership opportunities, has more than 12,000 members in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. She has been invited to receive the award in October at the annual NACADA conference in Puerto Rico.

“It’s nice to be recognized for your hard work,” Hulsey said. “I love my job here at the Harbert College of Business, and I think that makes a big difference. Our college is great about prioritizing student success, and the advising office is vital to those efforts.”

he national award comes on the heels of Hulsey earning the Auburn University Outstanding Advisor Award in March.
