Emily Friedman and Sunny Stalter-Pace of the Department of English in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University recently received grants from the Harry M. Philpott Endowment for the Humanities to enhance teaching and learning in the humanities.

Friedman is an associate professor in the Department of English and co-founder with Derek Ross and Greg Schmidt of the Book Lab Cart, which provides supplies for students to experience the physical components, design and artistry of book production. The Philpott Endowment will allow her to purchase a tabletop letterpress. Stalter-Pace is the Hargis Associate Professor of American Literature in the Department of English and she will use the grant to support a guest lecturer’s visit to her class, as well as provide support for student participation in a national humanities conference.

The Philpott Endowment is named for Harry M. Philpott, Auburn University’s eleventh president, who served from 1965 to 1980. For more information or to give to the endowment, go to www.auburn.edu/cah or contact Mark Wilson at mwilson@auburn.edu or 334-844-6198.
