Aubie Experience Exhibit to commemorate 41 years of Aubie Program at Auburn University
Article body
Auburn University Student Affairs will open the new Aubie Experience Exhibit, a commemorative display honoring Auburn University’s beloved mascot, Aubie, on Feb. 1.
The project was initiated through a gift by Linda and Jeff Stone, class of 1979, to create a new trophy case for Aubie’s nine Universal Cheerleaders Association National Championship trophies. The space is designed to honor and display the history and achievements of the Aubie Program and includes vintage memorabilia, photo opportunity and video display.
The 1200-square-foot exhibit is located on the second floor of the Auburn University Student Center adjacent to the James E. Foy Information Desk.
The public is invited to view the exhibit from 3-4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, and may access the exhibit through the front steps of the Student Center, 255 Heisman Drive, facing Quad Drive. The Aubie Experience Exhibit is a permanent addition to the Student Center and can be viewed by the public anytime during the Student Center’s hours of operation.
Aubie, Auburn University's tiger mascot, is in his 41st season as a spirit leader and goodwill ambassador for Auburn University. The nine-time Universal Cheerleaders Association National Champion was the first to be inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame. Created by artist Phil Neel, the cartoon version of Aubie first appeared on the Auburn/Hardin-Simmons football program cover on Oct. 3, 1959. A popular character among Auburn fans and one of the most animated mascots in the country, Aubie is the living spirit of Auburn.
