Southern Living taps Auburn alumni-owned breweries as best in the state

The January 2020 issue of Southern Living lists the magazine’s choices for best breweries in Southern states. Three of the four best Alabama breweries were started by Auburn alumni entrepreneurs. Back Forty Beer Company in Gadsden was created by Harbert College of Business graduate Jason Wilson. Wilson was a recipient of Auburn’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2015. Back Forty’s second location in Birmingham is owned and operated by Douglas Brown, who earned a graduate certificate in Brewing Science and Operations from Auburn in 2017. Singin’ River Brewing Company in Florence was co-founded by Michelle Forsythe Jones, who was part of the inaugural class that earned Auburn’s graduate certificate in brewing in 2015. Good People Brewing Company in Birmingham was founded by Auburn alumni Michael Sellers and Jason Malone. Southern Living is a premier lifestyle magazine devoted to celebrating the trends and traditions of Southern hospitality.
