Auburn University has received $20,533,551 to be used for emergency student funding under the American Rescue Plan Act (HEERF III).
As of September 13, 2021, Auburn University has received and distributed $20,533,551 to eligible students under the American Rescue Plan Act (HEERF III).
At the time the application opened on August 31,2021, based on completed 2021-22 FAFSAs, there were approximately 17,538 students at Auburn University who were potentially eligible for HEERF III emergency student funding.
As of September 13, 2021, the total number of eligible students who have applied for and received an emergency financial aid grant under HEERF III is 9,538. All available funds have been distributed as of September 13, 2021.
The method used by Auburn University to determine which students received emergency funding under the American Rescue Plan Act was an online application. Preference was given to students with highest need according to 2021-22 FAFSA. Awards were determined by level of Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and ranged between $1500 and $2500 per student. Non U.S. citizens were eligible for funding, but were not required to complete FAFSA. The application was closed on September 13, 2021.
Emails were sent to potentially eligible Auburn University students who were enrolled for fall 2021 to inform them of the funding application. These emails were sent to students with highest need as determined by the 2021-22 FAFSA. The emails provided basic eligibility criteria and a link to the application. The availability of the funding application was also communicated via This Week@Auburn e-newsletter that is distributed to all AU students, and The Auburn Plainsman.

Auburn University has been allocated $20,533,551 to be used for emergency student funding under the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF III) – Section 2003 of the 2021 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). Information for students to apply for these grants will be coming soon.
