Update to Faculty and Staff About COVID-19 - March 13, 2020

We know that many are returning from spring break travel amid this period of uncertainty about the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).  It is our hope to make the coming weeks as smooth as possible given the unprecedented nature of our transition to remote instruction.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I am writing today with a reminder for those returning to Auburn after personal travel, either domestic or international.  For faculty and staff returning from a country designated as Level 3 by the CDC, the university requires a self-imposed, 14-day quarantine away from campus.  Currently, Level 3 countries are China, South Korea, Iran and those in Europe.  There are no restrictions for those returning from a country not designated as Level 3 by the CDC.

In addition, out of an abundance of caution based on concerns expressed by the CDC, faculty and staff returning from a cruise, regardless of destination, are also asked to self-quarantine away from campus for 14 days.

If you believe you may have been exposed or have any coronavirus symptoms, we ask that you immediately call the Auburn Medical Clinic at 334-844-9825 before visiting the clinic.  After hours or on weekends, call East Alabama Medical Center COVID-19 hotline at 334-528-7425 before going to the hospital.

Finally, to help you stay informed, you may sign up to receive ongoing email updates by clicking here.  I also encourage you to regularly check our COVID-19 information page for the latest information.

Sincerely,

Jay Gogue
President
