Auburn News is a weekly, internal-only newsletter for faculty and staff and This Week @ Auburn is the equivalent for current students. Auburn Today is a daily, externally facing publication that highlights Auburn’s impact, excellence and momentum. Each serves a different audience, which affects how content is selected and presented.

Each week, OCM receives more submissions than can be included. Selection is based on timing, relevance to a broad audience, available space and alignment with institutional priorities. Not being selected does not reflect the value or importance of the work being shared.

No. Some submissions are better suited for college or unit channels, AUWire or targeted communications. OCM works with communicators to determine the best channel and timing for content.

AUWire access is limited to lead communicators and other designated individuals. Content should always be routed through your college or unit communicator before submission.

Some content may appear across all channels when it meets the needs of multiple audiences. However, placement in one channel does not guarantee placement in another.

You may note timing considerations, but placement and scheduling decisions are made by OCM based on editorial judgment, space and institutional priorities.

OCM may edit headlines and excerpts for clarity, consistency, length and alignment with editorial standards. These edits do not change the intent of the submission.

Content that has broad relevance, clear impact, strong visuals and alignment with Auburn’s strategic priorities is more likely to be selected.

Content for Auburn News must be submitted by 4:45 p.m. on the Thursday before Monday distribution. Content for This Week @ Auburn must be submitted by the Tuesday before Thursday distribution. Earlier submission is encouraged when possible.

Content is reviewed by OCM in coordination with the Office of the President, with final decisions made by that office.

Contact OCM as early as possible. Time-sensitive or urgent matters may be considered for alternate distribution methods, such as Auburn News Extra.

OCM welcomes questions and collaboration. Contact your college communicator or Megan Burmester in the Office of Communications and Marketing for guidance.
