Auburn News Content Must Be Submitted Through AUWire
  • Start with your college or unit communicators.
  • AUWire access is limited to lead communicators and other designated individuals.
  • College and unit communicators approve content for their area before submission.
Submission Deadlines
  • Deadline: 4:45 p.m. on the Thursday prior to Monday distribution.
  • Deadlines may be adjusted based on urgency, timing or content type, and those requests must be communicated to Megan Burmester
Types of Stories and Announcements Considered

Content should be relevant to a broad faculty and staff audience. Examples:

Campus-wide announcements

  • Faculty award nominations
  • Parking registration
  • Human Resources deadlines and updates

Feature stories

  • Student, faculty and staff spotlights highlighting impact, distinction or academic excellence.
  • Significant research and innovation achievements.
  • Work with meaningful impact on the Auburn community, the state or beyond.

Recognition and milestones

  • National awards and publications.
  • Retirements of 20 or more years of service.
  • Leadership roles at department chair, assistant vice president or higher.
  • Obituaries for current and former faculty and staff, with particular attention to those who served in senior leadership roles or made lasting contributions to Auburn.

Events

  • Submit using the Events Calendar.
  • Priority is given to events with campus-wide relevance and meaning.
  • Off-campus events are considered when there is a direct university connection and broad appeal.

Examples of items that would not be included in Auburn News:

  • External or off-campus service announcements unless university led.
  • Individual fundraising unless Auburn is directly involved.
  • Routine promotions or transfers, with limited institutional exceptions.
Content Review and Editorial Process
  • OCM ensures balanced coverage across colleges, divisions and units. All of these make Auburn distinctively Auburn, and each deserves to be highlighted on a regular basis.
  • OCM reviews all submissions prior to publication.
  • Headlines and excerpts may be edited for clarity, consistency and alignment with editorial standards.
  • Content is reviewed in coordination with the Office of the President, with final decisions made by that office.
  • Priority is given to content with broad institutional relevance and interdisciplinary impact.
