Why did you choose Auburn?

I wanted a challenge that an in-state school could not provide me. I wanted to meet new people and experience new things in a way that I never had before. Coming to a school that was so unfamiliar to me was challenging, but it has been so worth it. Auburn has become my home, and I’ve completely fallen in love with its people and its atmosphere. The feeling you get when you step on campus is incomparable. Choosing Auburn was the best decision I ever made.

What makes Auburn special?

The people of Auburn is what makes it special. There’s something about Auburn that connects everyone in a way that people at other schools aren't. Maybe it’s the “War Eagle” you hear when wearing Auburn gear, or the way the university’s students come together to better the community, or maybe it’s the love students and alumni have for Auburn. It’s special because the Auburn Family stays connected, and they share a passion for Auburn unlike any other.

What advice would you offer other out-of-state students who are considering Auburn?

During my freshman year, I changed and grew in ways that wouldn’t have been possible had I stayed in my comfort zone. You learn so much about yourself—strengths, weaknesses, skills, personality, beliefs—when faced with the challenge of attending an out-of-state school. Attending Auburn has been the most amazing, humbling, and encouraging experience. My advice is this: take the leap, because it will pay off.

How is Auburn preparing you for your career?

I am double majoring in psychology and Spanish, with the hopes to earn my doctorate degree and become a clinical psychologist who treats mental disorders. I’m studying Spanish simply because I want to know Spanish, and I believe it will be extremely useful in the years to come. Auburn is preparing me for that career by giving me realistic expectations of what graduate school will look like and providing me with the necessary tools and knowledge to make myself a competitive applicant.
