GE chooses Auburn for advanced education program in 3-D printing

GE has chosen Auburn University as one of only eight universities from around the world to participate in the GE Additive Education Program. Auburn will receive a state-of-the-art Concept Laser MLAB 100R metal printer as part of this program, which will support Auburn’s ongoing research and education initiatives in additive manufacturing, also known as 3-D printing. Carolina Williams, a Tennessee native who graduated from Ravenwood High School, was accepted to Yale University in March after writing an attention-grabbing essay, but she has chosen to attend Auburn University in the fall instead. Steven Brown, a professor of political science in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University, has earned a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity through hard work and scholarly research. Brown is the recipient of the 2017 Hughes-Gossett Senior Prize for the best article in the Journal of Supreme Court History. The award ceremony will be part of a black tie gala event at the United States Supreme Court in Washington, D.C., on June 5, where Brown will receive the award from one of the Supreme Court justices. Following a national search, Ada K. Wilson has been named assistant vice president for access and inclusive excellence in the Office of Inclusion and Diversity at Auburn University. Read more about Wilson. 

USA men to play Canada in three-game handball series at Auburn and Dothan for Alabama State Games

The USA Men's Handball Team will play the Canadian National Team in a three-game series June 9-11 as part of the 2017 Alabama State Games. Matches are scheduled on June 9 from 5-8 p.m. at Auburn University's Student Activities Center; June 10 at 1 p.m. at Northview High School in Dothan; and June 11 from noon-3 p.m. at Auburn's Student Activities Center. Summer veterinary scholars program underway at Auburn’s College of Veterinary Medicine

Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine faculty are teamed with 18 students this summer for the Boehringer Ingelheim Veterinary Scholars Program. Formerly the Merial Veterinary Scholars Program, its mission since 1999 is to provide a hypothesis-driven laboratory research experience for veterinary students. The 10-week program runs from mid-May through July and involves Auburn veterinary students as well as students from the Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine.
