Auburn welcomes Steven Leath as 19th president

Auburn University welcomed President Steven Leath to campus this morning as he started his first official day as the university’s 19th president. His first meeting on the Plains was with student leaders, followed by meetings with representatives from the University Senate, Staff Council, Administrative and Professional Assembly and the American Association of University Professors. All of the meetings were held in the Student Center. Pictured is Leath visiting recently with student staff members of the Glomerata and The Circle.

Leath joins the Auburn Family from Iowa State University where he served as president from 2012-2017. He began his career as a plant pathologist at the University of Illinois, Urbana, and spent much of his career in North Carolina, serving as vice president for research at the University of North Carolina System prior to his selection at Iowa State. He has degrees in plant science and plant pathology from Pennsylvania State University, the University of Delaware and the University of Illinois.


Graduate will pursue doctorate at University of Cologne with prestigious German fellowship

Auburn University graduate Benjamin Cole was recently awarded one of five Konrad Adenauer Foundation Doctoral Fellowships. The German-based fellowship provides full funding toward doctoral studies in international relations over the next three years. Read more about Cole.

Few may realize, however, the history it has with pollinators as well. Auburn Parks and Recreation has teamed up with the Auburn University College of Agriculture to host "Bee Auburn," a week-long celebration of pollinators and their impact, beginning June 19.
