A Letter from SGA President Jesse Westerhouse

My fellow Auburn students,

Tomorrow is an exciting day as you all have a chance to speak your voice on which candidates you want to represent you in Auburn's Student Government Association. The candidates have been working hard to educate you on their platforms and to show you why they believe they would be the best for these positions. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to read their platforms before you vote. They can be found on SGA's website.

Another great way to learn about the candidates running for president, vice president, treasurer and Miss Auburn is by attending the SGA debate tonight at 6 p.m. in the Student Center ballroom. At the debate, the candidates will discuss platforms and current issues facing Auburn students, and will give an outlook for what they hope their year would look like.

Along with voting for the candidates, you will also have the chance to vote on a $9 increase in student activity fees. This fee has not been increased in more than 10 years, and student organizations lack the resources needed to operate and grow effectively. While SGA opposes increases in the cost of college for Auburn students, we realize that this is a dire need. I would strongly encourage you to vote yes on this referendum. Please reach out to current SGA Treasurer James Beauchaine at or me at personally with any questions on the fee increase.

It has been an honor to serve such an incredible student body as SGA president. The impact these roles have on Auburn and the daily lives of students is a large one, and I encourage you to have an impact on this election with your vote this Tuesday from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. To vote, go to the My Campus Life tab on AU Access.

War Eagle!

Jesse Westerhouse
SGA President
