‘Egg Crash’ PSA wins gold at international film festival

A video created by Auburn University’s Media Production Group won the Gold Remi award for Best Public Service Announcement at this year’s WorldFest-Houston International Film festival earlier this month.

“Egg Crash” was developed through grant funding from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, distributed by the Law Enforcement and Traffic Safety Division of the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs. The video is available online at https://vimeo.com/266768473.

Through these grants, now entering their fifth year, Media Production Group creates video and audio messaging on seatbelt use and drunk driving that is shown in movie theaters and aired on television and radio.

“The creativity of Media Production Group significantly enhances our agency’s efforts to improve highway safety in Alabama,” said Bill Babington, chief of the Alabama Office of Highway Safety. “We are pleased to see their work recognized with this award.”

“We’ve received a million-plus dollars a year over five years, won a couple of distinguished awards and had a measurable impact on Alabamians. All of which testifies to the skill and talent of the MPG crew,” said Bruce Kuerten, MPG director.

The 53-year-old festival is one of the world’s largest and longest-running film and video competitions. There were more than 4,500 entrants.

The Remi awards are named for Frederick Remington, the Western sculptor and artist.

Media Production Group, a unit of the Harbert College of Business, provides a broad array of video, audio, digital and print services to clients across the university, state, region and nation. For more information, visit MPG’s website: www.auburn.edu/mpg.
