Auburn University Theatre presenting ‘Holiday Memories’

Auburn University’s Department of Theatre in the College of Liberal Arts closes the fall semester with “Holiday Memories” by Truman Capote, (stage version by Russell Vandenbroucke) on Telfair Peet’s main stage. This tale celebrates southern tradition and the diversity of southern experiences. “Holiday Memories” opens on Nov. 8, with performances through Nov. 16.

Truman Capote, a celebrated American writer, gained critical acclaim over the years for his authorship of works such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s and In Cold Blood. Inspired by Capote's own experiences growing up in depression-era Alabama, the play “Holiday Memories” recounts a friendship between two wayward souls, a precocious young boy, Buddy, and his adult cousin, Sook. Amongst pine trees, they bake fruitcakes and welcome the coming holiday season. Combining Capote’s stories with traditional holiday music, “Holiday Memories” reminds us of the many different forms of families and the importance of our shared humanity. 

The artistic team for “Holiday Memories” includes direction by Daydrie Hague, music direction by James Mablin, scenic and lighting design by guest artist Travis McHale, costume design by Jennifer Salter and sound design by Auburn student Carl Wampler. The cast includes: Ashley Butler, Connor Dealy, Allison Dixon, Grant Lackey, Zac Moss, Jessi Rogers, Ebony Strong, Jackson Whiting and Falan-Buie Madden.

The run time for this show is approximately 45 minutes.
