Auburn Family Friday Speaker Series set for home football weekends

Auburn University will host the Auburn Family Friday Speaker Series each Friday before home football games for fans wanting to learn more about Auburn people and programs that are inspiring, innovating and transforming in the community and beyond.

Kicking off this year’s series for the month of September is a list of several speakers with varying topics,  each set to take place at 3 p.m. 

The series kicks off on Sept. 7 with Wanona Satcher, ’02, ’05, CEO and founder of ReJuve Corp. and Makhers Studio LLC. Satcher will present on the topic of “Designing Forward,” the day before Auburn’s Sept. 8 football game vs. Alabama State. Satcher's talk is being held in conjunction with the Auburn Alumni Association's Black Alumni Weekend and will take place at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center.

All other talks in the series will take place in the Auburn Alumni Center located at 317 S. College St. The schedule of speakers for the remainder of September is:

  • Sept. 14: Nima Shamsaei, associate professor and director of Auburn’s National Center for Additive Manufacturing Excellence, and Scott Thompson, associate professor, Samuel Ginn College of Engineering. Topic: Additive Manufacturing at Auburn University: from Aerospace to Biomedical Applications. Game: LSU, Sept. 15

  • Sept. 21: James Hansen, professor emeritus, College of Liberal Arts, author of First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong and co-producer of the upcoming movie. Topic: Taking Neil Armstrong to Hollywood. Game: Arkansas, Sept. 22

  • Sept. 28: Lakami Baker, managing director, Lowder Center for Family Business and Entrepreneurship and Russell Foundation Professorship in Entrepreneurial Studies; Haitham Eletrabi, ’13, ’14, Tennibot CEO; and Lincoln Wang, ’16, Tennibot Chief Technology Officer. Topic: The Power of Entrepreneurship and the Journey of an Entrepreneur. Game: Southern Miss, Sept. 29

Three other speaker events will take place the Friday before home games in October and November. Details for those events will be announced at a later date.

The series is sponsored by the Auburn Alumni Association, Auburn Athletics and the Office of Communications and Marketing.
