Auburn University's Office of Inclusion and Diversity is hosting the 2018 Diversity Best Practices Conference Feb. 5-6 at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center. The theme of the conference, “Accelerating Diversity in Dynamic Environments,” will provide professionals and students with new approaches to promoting diversity and inclusion initiatives within their organizations.

Civil rights activist Andrew Young, former confidant to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., will be the keynote speaker for Auburn University's annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Breakfast. The event is set for Jan. 15 from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center.

Outside of a couple of Class 2A high school football championships over the years, Reeltown, Alabama, never had much of a claim to fame. But a risky agribusiness venture that put down roots there in 2014 has given the community of 750 or so a reason to brag. Today, Reeltown is home to the only commercial golden kiwifruit orchard in the nation.

Auburn University alumnus Harold Melton, presiding justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia, will be the speaker at the university’s fall graduation ceremonies. Approximately 1,683 degrees will be conferred during the two ceremonies set for Saturday, Dec. 16, in Auburn Arena.

The Davis Arboretum at Auburn University is once again teaming up with the City of Auburn Parks and Recreation to host a Holiday Movie Marathon Dec. 10 beginning at 4:30 p.m. The free public event will take place on the front lawn outside the pavilion, and gates will open at 4 p.m.

The Auburn University Music Project, or AUMP, program is expanding to include beginner lessons for winds, brass and percussion instruments. The program, based in the Department of Music in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University, currently features group lessons for beginner orchestral string players in grades 3-5.
