Auburn, Auburn Montgomery Schools of Nursing to pay tribute to Coach Pat Dye at annual Blue Jean Ball

The 2017 Blue Jean Ball, a “Tribute to a True Southern Legacy,” will honor Auburn University’s legendary football coach Pat Dye.

Tickets are available for the annual fundraiser for the Auburn University School of Nursing and Auburn University Montgomery School of Nursing. The rustic and secluded confines of Dye’s Crooked Oaks Hunting Lodge in Notasulga provides the ideal refuge for the celebration on Friday, Sept. 29.

Starting at 5 p.m., nursing students will serve Conecuh sausage. Haflinger-drawn and mule-drawn wagon rides will be offered. Music will be provided by Kidd Blue and Jay Hughes. The lodge store will be open and artist Barbara Davis will be available.

Dinner with all the fixin’s from Moe’s Original BBQ and samplings from the Organized Seafood Association’s catch will be served from 5:30-8 p.m.

Birds of prey from the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Southeastern Raptor Center will be available for photographs from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

In tribute to Dye, the legendary coach and some former players will take an hour, starting at 7:30 p.m., to reflect on their historic time together.

Dye and Auburn men’s basketball coach Bruce Pearl will emcee the live auction at 8:30 p.m., followed by a final set from Kidd Blue.

Now in its 17th year, the Blue Jean Ball always attracts hundreds of friends, faculty and students for a casual party to benefit nursing faculty, program support and scholarships for current nursing students at Auburn and Auburn Montgomery.
