The Davis Arboretum at Auburn University will host its inaugural Auburn Azalea Festival on Saturday, April 15. The event will begin with a spring native plant sale at 8 a.m., featuring the Auburn Azalea plants series.

Beginning at 10 a.m., area artists and makers from The Local Market will have a pop-up shop displaying handmade jewelry, pottery, art, photography, foods and a variety of other goods for purchase.

"The Azalea Festival will be one of the first events hosted by the Davis Arboretum where people can come out to shop, enjoy music and start to refamiliarize themselves with the arboretum," said Morgan Beadles, curator at Davis Arboretum. "We have been making big changes over the past year, and we want the public to see what's going on and to become more engaged in our gardens."

Musicians will perform throughout the day ranging from acoustic solo acts to bands.

"The arboretum benefits from this on a couple of levels," said Beadles. "The proceeds from the plant sale will go directly toward improvements of the grounds, but to me, the most important benefit of this event is that it is getting people to visit the arboretum."

The event is free and open to the public. Vendors will be available until 2 p.m., and live music will continue until 4 p.m. The arboretum is located at 181 Garden Drive in Auburn. For more information about the event, visit the Facebook event page.
