DesignIntelligence Quarterly has released its annual rankings "America's Best Architecture and Design Schools 2016-2017," and Auburn University's College of Architecture, Design and Construction programs are once again ranked among the best in the nation.

These rankings are based on annual surveys of leading practitioners in these fields. The college's undergraduate program in architecture is ranked ninth and its graduate program in landscape architecture is ranked 18th. The School of Industrial and Graphic Design's graduate program in industrial design continues to be ranked third in the nation and its undergraduate program is ranked fifth. There were no new rankings for industrial design this year.

This is the 11th year that the Auburn architecture program in the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture has been ranked in the top 20 programs nationally. In their architecture skills assessment, hiring firms have ranked Auburn second in construction methods and materials; fifth in sustainable design practices and principles; sixth in cross-disciplinary team work; and eighth in communication skills. The DesignIntelligence Architecture Dean Survey ranked Auburn fifth among their most admired undergraduate architecture programs "for its admirable faculty and Rural and Urban Studio."

This is the third time in the last 10 years that the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture's graduate program in landscape architecture has been in the top 20. Auburn's Master of Landscape Architecture approaches issues facing the world as design problems that are investigated through the work students do in studios, seminars, workshops and lectures, which enables students to understand and marshal the dynamic, flexible, fast-moving forces that form and re-form the landscapes of our cities and regions.

"I am delighted that our programs in the CADC continue to be nationally ranked for their distinct and robust, relevant strengths," said Vini Nathan, Dean and McWhorter Endowed Chair in the College of Architecture, Design and Construction. "Clearly, this is a testimony to the dedication of our faculty, students, staff and alumni."

The Auburn University College of Architecture, Design and Construction is comprised of the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture; the McWhorter School of Building Science, one of the oldest, largest and most respected construction management programs in the United States; and the School of Industrial and Graphic Design, whose graphic design program has been included in Graphic Design USA's top graphic design programs for the past three years.
