Thirty-three students win awards during ‘This is Research: Student Symposium 2016’

Thirty-three students took home awards for their research posters and oral presentations during the recent "This is Research: Student Symposium 2016" in the Student Center. The winners were announced during an awards ceremony April 18 in the Student Center ballroom.

First place winners for the Undergraduate Research Awards were Sara Rains and Jessica Adams of the College of Human Sciences for the oral presentation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math; Abigail Katsoulis and Madeline Gonzales of the College of Architecture, Design and Construction for the oral presentation in Research and Creative Scholarship in Design, Arts and Humanities; Martin Wang of the College of Sciences and Mathematics for the poster presentation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math; and Ryan Bowen of the College of Architecture, Design and Construction for the poster presentation in Research and Creative Scholarship in Design, Arts and Humanities.

First place winners for the Graduate Research Awards were Julio Yanes of the College of Liberal Arts for the oral presentation in Science and Engineering; Jeremy Jeffcoat of the Auburn Montgomery College of Arts and Sciences for the oral presentation in Social Sciences and Humanities; Alexander Sauer of the College of Liberal Arts for the poster presentation in Science and Engineering; A.J. Good of the College of Liberal Arts for the poster presentation in Social Sciences and Humanities; and Chloe Brown of the Auburn Montgomery College of Arts and Sciences for the oral presentation in Creative Scholarship. The first place winner of the Graduate Student Nursing Research Award was April Young for her poster presentation.

The symposium was held on April 13 in the Student Center, giving Auburn and Auburn Montgomery students an opportunity to share their research university-wide. Almost 500 undergraduate and graduate students participated through oral presentations, posters and creative scholarship displays.
