Auburn’s fourth annual All-Star Lecture Series set for Fridays on home football weekends

Auburn University will host its fourth annual All-Star Lecture Series on Fridays before home football games for fans wanting to learn more about Auburn people, history, sports, programs and research. The talks will take place at 3 p.m. at the Auburn Alumni Center, 317 S. College St., in either the Goodwin Room or the Galloway Atrium.

"We are excited to bring together an outstanding list of speakers who will discuss diverse and interesting topics," said Mike Clardy, interim assistant vice president in Auburn's Office of Communications and Marketing. "Each speaker has a different connection to the university and a different story to tell."

The series kicks off Sept. 11 with Jim Floyd, program advisor for Canine Performance Sciences at Auburn, presenting "Man's Best Friend – Man's Best Defense." The following lectures will feature radio announcer Rod Bramblett, voice of the Auburn Tigers; Steve Cox, executive director of International Expeditions; Elizabeth Huntley, civil litigation attorney with Lightfoot, Franklin and White LLC; Jimmy Johnson, creator of the comic strip Arlo and Janis; and Bennie Adkins, Congressional Medal of Honor winner.

The complete schedule is:

• Sept. 11: Jim Floyd, program advisor for Canine Performance Sciences at Auburn, "Man's Best Friend - Man's Best Defense." Game: Jacksonville State, Sept. 12.

• Sept. 25: Rod Bramblett, voice of the Auburn Tigers, "Stories from the Broadcast Booth." Game: Mississippi State, Sept. 26.

• Oct. 2: Steve Cox, executive director of International Expeditions, "The Amazon and Cuba: Protecting People and Places through Ecotourism." Game: San Jose State, Oct. 3.

• Oct. 30: Elizabeth Huntley, civil litigation attorney at Lightfoot, Franklin and White LLC, "The Auburn Creed: A Living Document - How the words and those they've inspired shaped me into who I am today." Game: Ole Miss, Oct. 31.

• Nov. 13: Jimmy Johnson, creator of the Arlo & Janis comic strip, "Jimmy and Arlo and Janis." Game: Georgia, Nov. 14.

• Nov. 20: Command Sgt. Maj. Bennie Adkins, winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor, "The Battle - My Story." Game: Idaho, Nov. 21.

A lecture will not be held prior to the Alabama game due to the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
