Auburn's Market at Ag Heritage Park open for 10th season

Week two of The Market at Ag Heritage Park's 2015 season will get underway Thursday, May 21, at 3 p.m. and will continue every Thursday, 3-6 p.m., through Aug. 27. The open-air farmers market is located at the corner of South Donahue and Lem Morrison drives.

The Market at Ag Heritage Park offers locally grown fruits and vegetables as well as other locally produced items, including goat cheese, pasture-raised lamb, yarn, ornamental plants, honey and baked goods. Fourteen vendors were on hand for week one; once summer produce season is in full swing, the vendor count will rise to 25 to 30 each week.

Laura Herring, market manager, says The Market at Ag Heritage Park offers an opportunity to support local farmers while preserving a connection to the university's agricultural heritage.

"Since we opened in 2005, we've been providing the Auburn community access not only to fresh, healthy, locally grown products but also to the people who produce them," Herring said. "A trip to the market is a positive, uplifting experience for our customers and our vendors and has become a favorite summertime activity in the area."
