Auburn awarding 3,840 degrees in ceremonies featuring NFL executive Michelle McKenna-Doyle

Auburn University will award 3,840 academic degrees May 9-10 in Auburn Arena during four spring commencement ceremonies featuring addresses by Auburn alumna Michelle McKenna-Doyle, NFL senior vice president and chief information officer.

The first ceremony at 10 a.m. May 9 will include the College of Education and College of Sciences and Mathematics. A 2 p.m. ceremony will be held for the College of Agriculture, the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business and the Interdisciplinary Studies program.

A 1 p.m. ceremony on May 10 will include the College of Architecture, Design and Construction, the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering and the College of Human Sciences. A 5 p.m. ceremony will be held for the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, College of Liberal Arts and School of Nursing.

McKenna-Doyle, a certified public accountant, earned a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1987 from Auburn and later a master's degree in business administration from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. She is a native of Enterprise, Alabama.

She is responsible for the NFL's technology strategy, shared service delivery and management of the league's corporate technology activities. She also leads the league's efforts for in-stadium connectivity to fuel the fan experience and the NFL's Sideline of the Future initiative. Prior to joining the NFL, she was chief information officer with Constellation Energy in Baltimore. She has extensive experience in the media and entertainment industry as a previous senior vice president and chief information officer at Universal Orlando Resort.

During Auburn's commencement ceremonies, the university will award 2,833 bachelor's degrees, 648 master's degrees, 100 doctorates and nine education specialist degrees.

The College of Liberal Arts will award the most bachelor's degrees with 631, followed by the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business with 531. The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering will present 498 degrees; College of Sciences and Mathematics, 356; College of Education, 273; College of Architecture, Design and Construction, 150; College of Agriculture, 149; College of Human Sciences, 118; School of Nursing, 74; School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, 34; and Office of the Provost, 19 degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies.

The College of Veterinary Medicine and James Harrison School of Pharmacy, both professional schools, will have separate commencement ceremonies on different dates in Auburn Arena. The veterinary ceremony will be held May 5 at 6 p.m. for 112 graduates, while the pharmacy ceremony will be held May 12 at 10 a.m. for 138 graduates.

Auburn University has awarded more than 285,000 degrees since its founding as East Alabama Male College in 1856.
