Women's Philanthropy Board Winter Workshop seeks to inspire participants to 'Work, Live and Give with Pride'

AUBURN UNIVERSITY – Five local women entrepreneurs and the woman behind the college-themed body products of Pride & Glory will speak at the Women's Philanthropy Board's 2015 Winter Workshop and Luncheon on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center.

The event, dubbed "Work, Live, and Give with Pride" will focus on entrepreneurs who are using their businesses to make a difference in the community.

A morning workshop from 9:30-11 a.m. will include a panel discussion with Stacy Brown, founder and vice president of brand development for Chicken Salad Chick; Samantha Bradshaw and Karen Snyder, founders and owners of ida-clair accessories; and Nonet Reese and Tricia Peterson, founders and owners of Three Sixty Real Estate. The workshop is free and open to the public.

Panelists will provide insight about their careers, businesses, entrepreneurship, leadership and how they are using their businesses to make a difference in the community.

The luncheon will feature Jennifer Walsh, the entrepreneur and beauty expert who started Pride & Glory, the first collegiate beauty brand created for the sole purpose of giving back to the communities where the college is located. Pride & Glory products feature eight schools in the south, including Auburn University.

Walsh's foundation, Inspiration Nations, is partnering with each school to not only monetarily give back from the sale of each product, but to get the students active in the charity of the school. She hopes students will learn that small acts of giving and volunteerism can lead to a stronger and healthier community, therefore building a stronger, sustainable world.

Individual tickets are $50 and reserved tables of 10 are available in the following price structure: Gold Table, $600; Platinum Table, $800; and Diamond Table, $1,000.

The Women's Philanthropy Board, the flagship division of the Cary Center for the Advancement of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies, was established in 2002. The organization has been the inspiration for the development of a minor in philanthropy and nonprofit studies in the College of Human Sciences, Camp iCare (a summer camp for kids ages 6-12), REAL Cents REAL Change (a learning series and summer residential camp for teens ages 13-18) and Volunteers in Philanthropy (a volunteer program for Auburn University students).

Women's Philanthropy Board Corporate partners provide funds to assist in underwriting WPB's educational programs and infrastructure. These partners include Alabama Power, Auburn University Outreach, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, Charlotte Gaston Interiors, The Flower Store, The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center, Kiplinger, Valorum Wealth Management – UBS, Verizon and Warren Averett.
