Performance artist Tim Miller featured in Auburn's new black box theatre Nov. 4

The Auburn University Theatre will present a free public performance by Tim Miller, a nationally prominent performance artist, in the new black box theatre of the Telfair Peet Theatre Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 7:30 p.m.

Miller is a Los Angeles-based performance artist who began his career as a dancer and has been at the forefront of AIDS activism in the spheres of dance and performance arts. He studied at the Merce Cunningham and Erick Hawkins studios in New York and assisted with the founding of P.S. 122, a performance space dedicated to artists from diverse genres, cultures and perspectives. In 1987, Miller founded Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica, California, and frequently teaches in the dance and theater departments at UCLA and Cal State – Los Angeles.

The Auburn University Department of Theatre, in the College of Liberal Arts, is dedicated to the education and professional training of theatre artists, scholars and audiences within a liberal arts environment. The department champions the interaction between theory and practice and produces citizen artists who advocate for the arts through their own work in local, national and international communities. Auburn University Theatre students think critically, creatively and collaboratively and carry their knowledge from rehearsal spaces and classrooms to stages, campuses and communities worldwide.
