Countless families go through the process of buying a new home, but they are not often filmed for a national television show while doing so. On Thursday, Oct. 23, Auburn University's director of Campus Dining, Glenn Loughridge, and his family will be featured on an episode of HGTV's House Hunters airing at 9 p.m.

House Hunters, a reality television show, takes viewers behind the scenes of the process for buyers searching for a home. Throughout the show they learn what to look for with their realtor and decide whether or not a specific home is meant for them.

Loughridge and his wife moved from Florida to Auburn to raise their two sons in 2012. After living in a rental home for two years, Loughridge said his wife applied online to HGTV's House Hunters on a whim.

"We've been watching the show for years and enjoy it because it's one our entire family can watch together," Loughridge said. "My wife honestly didn't think we had a chance based on the number of applications they receive each month."

A month after submitting the application, the Loughridges were notified they were selected for the show by a Los Angeles-based producer assigned to the episode. They were filmed 10 hours a day for four days and were able to find their home.

"The whole process was very organized and our experience was outstanding," Loughridge said. "This was the first time that House Hunters has shot an episode in Auburn so we wanted to make sure that we represented the community and the university well, and that the crew assigned to us felt at home."

Kristi Smith from Prudential Preferred Real Estate was the Loughridge's local real estate agent and assisted during the House Hunters experience. They were able to find the perfect home in only two months.

"We are looking forward to seeing Auburn on HGTV," Loughridge said. "I think people will be surprised at the variety of the three homes featured on the show."
