Notice body

The Auburn Kreher Preserve and Nature Center will be hosting "Fire on the Plains," an exciting program about fire ecology led by the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences and the Alabama Forestry Commission. During this fun interactive program, attendees will learn how fire shapes the natural landscape of the forest and participate in a prescribed burn, weather permitting. The City of Auburn Fire Department and Smokey the Bear will also be on hand to teach fire safety. Children will enjoy exploring a fire truck and other hands-on activities including a longleaf pine maze and charcoal drawings. Sit by the campfire and listen to music by the Fireside Pickers while you enjoy lunch from Firetruck BBQ or hot cocoa, coffee and s’mores, which will be available for purchase.

The program is free for all ages and will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The Kreher Preserve and Nature Center is located north of Auburn at 2222 N. College Street. For more information, contact Jennifer Lolley.
