Notice body

Lauren Ashley Burk was in her second semester at Auburn University when she was killed after being abducted on March 4, 2008. As we remember the ninth anniversary of her passing, please keep in mind some important safety tips.

  • When leaving your residence, always inform a roommate or friend where you are going and when you will return.

  • Do not park your vehicle in isolated or dark areas, and be aware of your surroundings at all times. If this is your only parking option, please call the Security Shuttle to give you a ride from the parking lot to your destination.

  • Never leave a place with a stranger or get into the vehicle of someone you just met.

  • Be conscious of your surroundings. Wearing headphones while jogging or talking on the phone while crossing the street can be dangerous. Always know who and what is around you.

  • Keep your cell phone with you so that you can call for help in case of an emergency.

The Night Security Shuttle Van Service offers a safe ride to and from on-campus locations 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. seven days a week while classes are in session. For service, call (334) 844-7400.

If you need an escort when the Night Security Shuttle Van Service is not in operation, contact the Auburn Department of Public Safety at (334) 501-3100. An officer will respond to your location and escort you to your campus destination.
