The Auburn University Department of English in the College of Liberal Arts announced its annual Robert Hughes Mount, Jr. Poetry Prize, sponsored by the Academy of American Poets, and endowed by Frances Mayes, offering a $100 award and a one-year membership in the Academy of American Poets for the Auburn University student submitting the best poem.

Additionally, the winning entry, if written by a student aged 23 or younger will be considered by the Academy for the Aliki Perroti and Seth Frank Most Promising Young Poet Award. This prize comes with a $1,000 award.

Graduate or undergraduate students may submit up to three poems to Professor Jeremy Downes of the English Department. All poems must be submitted electronically. The contest deadline is March 10.

The winner will be celebrated at the English Awards Ceremony on April 21. Questions about Auburn's contest should be directed to the Poetry Prize Coordinator, Professor Jeremy Downes, at downejm@auburn.edu
