A memorial portrait of Marine Corps Capt. Robert W. Hubbard will be presented in a ceremony on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. in Langdon Hall. Among those attending are Medal of Honor recipients retired Marine Maj. Gen. James Livingston and retired Army Command Sgt. Maj. Bennie Adkins.

A recipient of the Navy Cross, Hubbard graduated from Auburn's Navy ROTC program in 1963. He died during the Battle of Hue City in Vietnam on Feb. 4, 1968, while working for the CIA. Retired Marine Capt. Raymond Lau, who was with Hubbard in Hue, will talk about their experiences in Vietnam.

The portrait was painted by Barbara Davis, wife of Alabama Assistant Attorney General and Auburn graduate John Davis. The request for the portrait and dedication came from John Davis as a way to honor Hubbard and to educate Auburn Midshipmen about the heroic actions of those who fought in the Vietnam War. Following the ceremony, the portrait will be displayed in the Nichols Center.
