Join the Lee County Literacy Coalition and the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts and Humanities for a book talk by Karen Spears Zacharias, author of "Christian Bend," on Thursday, Feb. 22, at 4 p.m. at Pebble Hill.

"Christian Bend" is the third book in Zacharias's Appalachian series. Set in the hills of East Tennessee, it is a story of community, family secrets, love, and redemption.

Zacharias is a Georgia-raised Gold Star daughter. Her work has been featured in the New York Times and on CNN, National Public Radio and Good Morning America. Her 2013 novel, "Mother of Rain," received the Weatherford Award for Best in Appalachian Fiction and was adapted for the stage by Georgia's Historic State Theater.

The event is free, open to the public and will be followed by refreshments. Books will be available for purchase and signing. The Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts and Humanities at Pebble Hill is located at 101 S. Debardeleben St., Auburn.
