Auburn University Libraries has begun a one-year pilot project to bring video resources to library users. Provided by Alexander Street Press, Academic Video Online: Premium, or AVON, is a comprehensive video subscription available to libraries and their patrons. It delivers more than 62,000 video titles dating from 1882 to the present on issues worldwide spanning subject areas including anthropology, art and design, business, criminal justice, diversity studies, education, gender and sexuality, health sciences, history, literature and language, music and performing arts, psychology and counseling, science and engineering and social sciences.

The collection includes content from over 1,500 leading distributors, producers, and filmmakers including: 60 Minutes /CBS, PBS, BBC, NBC, Intelecom, Insight Media, Microtraining, Filmakers Library, Envision, Inc., Stanley Milgram, Dallas Telecourses and Davidson Films.

The service includes a full suite of features, including: user playlists that can be created and shared, clipping functionality, transcripts availability, selected content can be sent to mobile devices, permalinks are provided for embedding on other sites and comprehensive permission for in-class, on-campus and remote viewing.
