Campus Safety & Security will hold its Campus Community Emergency Response Team (CCERT) training Feb. 6-7. C-CERT are groups of trained individuals who have volunteered to take an active role during campus emergencies. Teams are generally organized by building, with the goal to have an active team in every occupied building on campus. The CCERT training program prepares team members for routine activation during severe weather and other emergency events and non-routine activation during a disaster. Topics covered include disaster preparedness, fire safety, disaster medical triage and treatment, light search and rescue, disaster psychology, terrorism and team organization. As part of the class, participants are provided hands-on fire extinguisher training and automated external defibrillator, or AED, familiarization. There is still space to register. Interested employees, should contact their supervisor before enrolling in CCERT training on Fast Train.

Registrants should also register for the CCERT exercise on Feb. 8 from 1-4 p.m. This disaster simulation provides team members the opportunity for hands-on practice of the skills that they learned in the CCERT course. The exercise is part of the complete training, but is listed as a separate course in Fast Train.
