Notice body

A portion of Ross Square will be closed beginning Monday, Dec. 11, due to construction for the Mell Corridor Improvement Project. The initial portion of the project, expected to be complete in early January, includes construction of a raised intersection at Mell Street and West Thach Avenue. Traffic will not be able to fully circulate Ross Square and will exit to Magnolia Avenue adjacent to Ross Hall. Additional work in the first phase of construction includes the northern portion of the concourse and a new parking lot adjacent to Mary Martin Hall.

The Mell Corridor Improvement Project is expected to be completed in six months and will modify Mell Street from Thach Avenue to Library Service Drive to create a pedestrian and bicycle concourse, along with plaza and gathering spaces, adjacent to the new Mell Classroom Building. Other work within the project includes a food court area between Mary Martin Hall and the Mell Classroom Building and a permanent welcome station on West Thach Avenue.

Construction for the project is phased to maintain pedestrian access along Mell Street, and motorists, pedestrians and cyclists are encouraged to use caution while in the area.
