Beverly Marshall, the SunTrust Bank Professor of Finance in Auburn’s Harbert College of Business, is joining the university’s Committee on Intercollegiate Athletics as faculty representative.

Auburn President Steven Leath selected Marshall, crediting her commitment to academic integrity and ability to serve as a liaison between the Athletics Department and the academic mission of the university. She replaces Mary Boudreaux, professor emeritus in the College of Veterinary Medicine, who has served as the faculty athletics representative since August 2010.

“Dr. Marshall has my full and complete trust, and I look forward to working together,” said Leath. “We appreciate Dr. Boudreaux and her many years of service to Auburn.”

Marshall joined the Auburn faculty in 1998. Her research addresses issues in corporate finance, mainly financial decision-making by managers, and her primary area of teaching is international finance. The former president of the Eastern Finance Association also serves on the six-person advisory committee aiding the search for Auburn’s next athletics director.

“It’s an honor to serve in this new role, and I welcome the opportunity to work with student-athletes in balancing academics and athletics,” Marshall said.

The Committee on Intercollegiate Athletics advises the president on athletics policies and monitors athletics compliance.
