Notice body

The Theatre Department will hold a general, open audition for both "Chicago" and "Mr. Burns: A Post Electric Play," on Wednesday, Nov. 29. Those interested in auditioning, sign up for audition slots on the call board outside of the Greenroom in Telfair Peet Theatre, or email for an audition time.

For the auditions, prepare the following: Monologue: Up to a 60-second contemporary monologue. Choose a monologue that allows you the opportunity to make a strong, bold choice. That choice should be evident both physically and vocally. Both pieces involve the active, embodied telling of story. Strive to choose a piece that has a clear beginning, middle and end.

Music: Prepare 16 bars of an uptempo song from a musical in the quintessential style of the 1970s. This includes composers such as John Kander, Stephen Schwartz, Marvin Hamlisch, Charlie Smalls and many more. Songs by Michael Friedman, the composer of the music for "Mr. Burns," are also acceptable. Within the songs, as with the monologues, the directors encourage big and bold choices. Accompanist will be provided. Please bring clearly marked double-sided sheet music to audition.

Headshot and resume are recommended; staple the resume to the backside of the headshot.

Scripts are available in the theatre front office to check out.

** All together, your monologue and song should not exceed 90 seconds

NOTE: There may be dance-only roles in "Chicago." To be considered for these roles only, do not prepare a song, only a monologue. You will need to attend the dance call back on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m. Indicate this choice on the audition form.
