The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Auburn University, or OLLI at Auburn, is hosting Butch Thompson, head baseball coach, for a Wisdom Wednesday lecture on “Attack. Legacy. Vision (Steps in Building Leadership)” on Nov. 15 from 2:30-4 p.m. at the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art, 901 S. College St. OLLI members, guests and friends are all invited to attend.

Thompson is entering his third year as head baseball coach of the Auburn Tigers. 2018 will be his 16th season in the SEC and 26th year overall. The 2017 Tigers were 37-26 and were the runners up in the Tallahassee Regional. The team finished 25th in the final Baseball America poll. Academically, the baseball team has achieved its three best academic semesters in a row for this decade. Each of Coach Thompson's recruiting classes since coming to Auburn have been ranked in the top 10 nationally with this years’ class ranked sixth by Perfect Game. The 2018 team will return seven of its 10 innings leaders and the seven position players who started at least 30 games.

Thompson’s presentation focuses on how a coach is constantly attempting to build the healthiest organization or team he or she can. There is a daily focus on acquiring, developing and encouraging young people to reach the lofty goals every SEC program desires.
