Jean Shin is an internationally-recognized artist who works with multiples of objects to transform the everyday into decadent interpretations of identity and community. She uses materials that range from prescription pill bottles to sweaters, and often obtains them as secondhand objects from people in participating communities. She will speak at Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art, Auburn University on Thursday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. The museum is exhibiting her work, "MAiZE," Oct. 5, 2017 to Jan. 7, 2018. The installation is a "corn maze" made of recycled green soda bottles. She is also the 2017 juror of the outdoor sculpture competition, "Out of the Box." Find registration and more information online.
