Notice body

As part of Auburn University’s second annual Campus Fire Safety Month, the Risk Management and Safety Department, or RMS, will host the “Popcorn and Prevention” event on Monday, Sept. 25, on the Haley Concourse and at the transit bus stop location near the Student Center from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

During this time, staff members with RMS and other volunteers will hand out popcorn and fire hazard tip sheets to students. The purpose of this event will be to teach students about the dangers of cooking fires and other potential dormitory fire hazards. Fresh, free popcorn will be available, along with special guest appearances by Aubie.

Campus Fire Safety Month, or CFSM, is a national awareness initiative created by the Center for Campus Fire Safety to help college students understand the importance of fire and life safety. The overall goal of the initiative is to give students a greater awareness of the dangers of dormitory, residence hall and off-campus housing-related fires, and the steps they can take to prevent them or, if need be, survive them. Auburn’s 2017 CFSM highlights this campaign by hosting one event each week in September. Students who attend three out of the four events and get their CFSM pledge card stamped by a member of the CFSM team will be entered to win the grand prize drawing on Sept. 28.
See a member of the CFSM team at each event to pick up a pledge card. To see the full schedule of events, visit the Auburn University Campus Fire Safety Month webpage.
