Notice body

Student Counseling Services and Health Promotion and Wellness Services will offer a Train the
Trainer Question Persuade Refer, or QPR, session on Friday, Sept. 22. This
session is for individuals who are interested in serving as a QPR facilitator
and hosting three one-hour QPR training sessions per year over the next three
academic years.

The mission of QPR is to “teach those who are in a position to recognize the
warning signs, clues and suicidal communications of people in trouble to ACT
vigorously to prevent a possible tragedy.” QPR trains people to Question a
person about suicide, Persuade the person to get help, and Refer the person to
the appropriate resource. Suicide is the third leading cause of death for young
adults age 15 – 25, and like CPR or the Heimlich Maneuver, the application of
QPR may save a life.

To learn more about this training opportunity, please contact Eric Smith or call 844-1528. Participation
is limited to 26 individuals.
