The SPEAK test for new international graduate students will be held Aug. 9 and 16 at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in 3234 Haley Center. The 20-minute institutional test of spoken English is for incoming international graduate students who did not take the iBT TOEFL or IELTS and do not have a speaking section score. Students who have already been in the United States for some time since taking their TOEFL test who would like to meet the graduate school's language requirement to be a graduate teaching assistant, or GTA, can also take the exam.

The requirements for a GTA position are a 50 on SPEAK, a seven on IELTS speaking section or 23 on the iBT speaking section. More information about the graduate school requirements can be found online.
