Notice body

In December 2016, Jim O’Connor, Auburn’s chief information officer, presented key priorities for the coming months and next academic year. The first two projects involved conducting an assessment of Auburn’s most critical systems and the development of a campus-wide Information Technology Strategic Plan.

Under the leadership of O’Connor and Auburn’s Vice President for Business and Finance/Chief Financial Officer Kelli Shomaker, the assessment process was launched this summer. Following a careful review of vendor proposals by an internal committee that included campus constituents, Plante Moran, a leading advisory firm, was selected to assist the university in the project.

In the coming days, Plante Moran will administer IT surveys to the campus, beginning with full-time employees and followed by nine-month employees in the early fall. Working with OIT, Plante Moran will also engage members of the campus in strategic interviews and focus groups, with regular updates provided to the campus. Deliverables for this process include a final report and recommendations no later than November 2017, to be shared with the campus shortly thereafter.

Individuals invited to participate in the survey will receive an invitation from an email address titled “” This should not be considered phishing or SPAM. Respondents may choose to make this anonymous or include their names.

The Office of the CIO will form a small steering committee and will publish information on opportunities to keep current on the plan’s progress. The committee will also help guide the IT Strategic Planning process, which will be launched in mid-September.
